Otfried Preußler

Otfried Preußler was born in 1923 in Reichenberg/Bohemia. In 1949 he came to upper Bavaria where he was living until his death in February 2013. Until 1971 he taught pupils at an elementary school at Rosenheim, then he decided to devote himself entirely to literary writing. Otfried Preußler is one of the best known and most successful authors of children’s and juvenile literature in Germany and the world. His books have a world-wide print-run of about 50 mio. copies in more than 350 translations, some of them like "The Little Witch" or "Robber Hotzenplotz" have been translated into more than 50 languages.
